How to visit Pikes Place Market

I truly miss this place. A few little tricks we learned from living in Seattle for so long of how to do Pike's Place "right" (truly though, there's no wrong way to do Pike's Place).

Parking: Park by the sound next to the ferry docks. There's usually plenty of spots under the Viaduct. Go on Sunday for FREE parking. Walk up all the stairs to the top and enjoy the musicians and random street merchants a long the way.

Pike's Place is known for it's great seafood selection as it comes right off the boat from the Sound. One thing we learned quickly is to buy seafood from the vendors that don't throw the fish - you'll get a much better price. Our routine: buy a salmon, a baguette from the charming mustached man at Three Girls Bakery, get some Beecher's flagship cheddar (maybe try a sample of the macaroni and cheese if you're lucky), buy some fresh vegetables and lemons from the vegetable stand and maybe indulge in some fresh flowers for the table. After you are all people'd out run up to Storyville Coffee for the best latte and chocolate chip cookie you've ever had. Then we'd drive home and make a meal with all the fresh ingredients.

We truly miss our days in Seattle. What are your favorite spots?
